OWH Sketch Challenge #127 – Sponsored by Doodle Pantry!

This was the easiest batch of cards I've ever done.  Now I understand the appeal of digital "stamping"!  Doodle Pantry is sponsoring this week's OWH Sketch Challenge, so I decided to use something from them.  Of course, I really enjoy coloring, but having the bird already in color saved a ton of time.  Designing, printing, cutting out, embossing, layering, and fiddling with ribbon (that took longest!) all together only took about two hours for twelve cards.

OWH Sketch #57

During the Memorial Day Blog Hop I picked a sketch to use for a batch of cards to make for OWH.

My camera skills aren't the best yet.  Anyway, the premise was that you could take three different 8.5" x 11" papers, cut out a variety of identically sized pieces, and make three complete cards.  My plan is to make cards in batches of 12, so this batch has four sets of three, and every card is different!

Father's Day Card

Next Sunday is Father's Day, and my youngest son will be a father soon.  June 19th or so.  I think I might send this card to him.  :-)
The paper is from Stampin' Up, and the stamps are both by Impression Obsession.  Learning to layer stuff for better design has been interesting.  My paper cutter blade was dull, so the edge of the blue mat wasn't nice enough to keep plain.  I distressed the edges with a Stampin' Up distressing tool (similar to the one Tim Holtz sells), and it was serendipity.  I think the old row boat and sandy hillside really works better with the distressed mat.

OWH Sketch Challenge #124

It took me all week to do it, but I finally finished the OWH Sketch Challenge from last Sunday.  The image for the card is a hummingbird getting nectar from a flower.  I chose the hummingbird because it makes me think of Sandy Allnock.  She's the heartbeat of OWH, and like a hummingbird's heart, she goes incredibly fast to do all she does.

I did a dozen cards for this sketch challenge - lots of learning how to color better, how to fix mistakes (fussy cutting!!! or adding a sentiment layer), how to choose paper combinations, etc.  These cards will go toward the "Duty Honor Cards" drive due by Independence Day.
