May Arts Patriot Day Sketch Challenge

Boy, it's been awhile since I've posted anything.  I was working like crazy designing cards and making up kits to have an Operation Write Home (OWH) birthday party at work, and then it became too "political" for my workplace.  So now I have LOTS of cards all ready to assemble by myself!  LOL!    Check out Operation Write Home site and the Stars and Stamps blog.

Anyway, Sandy, as a new Ribbonista on May Arts blog, presented the challenge to use this sketch and make a Thank You card for a local hero - like a firefighter or police officer.  See the video here:
May Arts Patriots Day Card Challenge

The sketch has LOTS of bits, and Sandy encouraged me to only use papers from my "scrap" stash.  Every bit was in my 'bits & pieces' left over from previous creative sessions.

I started with the M&M paper, and then looked for a sentiment to fit.  Happened to have "You're one of the good ones!" from a Stampin' Up set.  Made me think about how my stepfather used to say "the green ones make you . . ." well, anyway, how people often have a favorite M&M color. Although it doesn't say "thank you" on the outside, the inside will have plenty of words of appreciation for our local police force.  They have been really good to work with this summer on some issues in our community.

I'll post the cards I designed for the birthday party, and a few others I've done lately, one at a time for the next few weeks.  Have a good day.

Proof of God

"Nature is the living proof of a loving God."  I love that thought.  The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set that included some butterfly images as well. The polka-dot paper was by Lasting Impressions, years ago.  This card is being entered into the Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge #J2712.  Check it out here: thehousethatstampsbuilt.com

Belated Birthday Bunnies

Okay, I'm punning around here, but couldn't resist.  This card started out to be for the OWH Sketch Challenge #126 last week, but I had such a hard time designing a card, I didn't finish in time.  You can't tell, but I actually fussy-cut around each little bunny before putting them on the punched shape and adding their white flocked tails.  The other challenge I had was finding enough dark papers for the matting.  Doing twelve identical cards can be tough when you only have a couple pieces of each paper, even though you have HUNDREDS of papers!  LOL.

OWH Sketch Challenge #127 – Sponsored by Doodle Pantry!

This was the easiest batch of cards I've ever done.  Now I understand the appeal of digital "stamping"!  Doodle Pantry is sponsoring this week's OWH Sketch Challenge, so I decided to use something from them.  Of course, I really enjoy coloring, but having the bird already in color saved a ton of time.  Designing, printing, cutting out, embossing, layering, and fiddling with ribbon (that took longest!) all together only took about two hours for twelve cards.

OWH Sketch #57

During the Memorial Day Blog Hop I picked a sketch to use for a batch of cards to make for OWH.

My camera skills aren't the best yet.  Anyway, the premise was that you could take three different 8.5" x 11" papers, cut out a variety of identically sized pieces, and make three complete cards.  My plan is to make cards in batches of 12, so this batch has four sets of three, and every card is different!
